Can you hire a car in Australia with a UK driver's license

Can you hire a car in Australia with a UK driver’s license?

January 19, 2018 by Editor

Yes you can. If you have an open license and you are above the age of 21, you shouldn’t have any issues with hiring a car using a UK driver’s license.

If you want to drive a vehicle in Australia using a UK driver’s license, you are allowed to for up to 3 months if you  are a temporary overseas visitor. Your UK license has to be valid and you cannot be disqualified from driving anywhere.

If you plan to be in Australia for longer than 3 months and you hold a permanent visa, you will need to get a local license within the first 3 months that you are in the country.

You can also find more information on the UK government website and on the Australian government website.
